Thank you so much for this post. I was browsing the web today and suddenly my screen was replaced with a fake (but very convincing) screen alerting me my computer was infected with 12 viruses. When I tried exiting, a program called NSIS Softcop Online kept trying to install itself on my computer.

I’ve never experienced such a deceitful, devious and authentic-looking attempt to hijack my browser and implant spyware onto my computer. I immediately ran two different scans (from programs I have installed and trust) and DID NOT have any infections.

It seemed suspicious so I put the ‘application’ (that I did not run, but saved to my desktop) in a ‘denied access’ folder. Then I typed in ‘SoftCop’ in my browser and voila, I ended up here at this informative site.

Thanks again for confirming my suspicions.

Thank you so much for the information about SoftCop.exe.

I almost fell prey to it on the 17th when suddenly, while gleefully browsing along on the DeviantArt site, my screen went berserk — a new window appeared with a very convincing and authentic-looking warning alert from ©Microsoft Windows™; but it wasn’t Microsoft. It said I had 12 infections. The freakiest part was that it tried nearly a dozen times to install itself onto my computer, even though I NEVER selected YES, RUN, CLICK, etc. I felt violated and angry – it was my first experience with a ‘Real-Time’ Malware Attack.

The only scan that detected it was ESET’s Online Scanner http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/

And your site is the only place I found any information about this Trojan.

    Thanks again.
