Marc, boot your PC in Safe mode, then open C:\Program Files\AV8 folder and remove all files which it contains.

Hi,
i’m on windows 7 and i can not get into my desktop. the security screen asks if i will want to allow av8.exe to start on my harddrive and i always click no, but then my desktop will not boot. Any solution to this? should I hit accept yes, and just get into my desktop then attemp to remove or would that be bad?

Justin run it in safe mode f8 before the windows boots up. Once in safe mode click on start, in search type msconfig once system configuration pops up click on the startup tab and uncheck the av8 box then you will need to reboot you will get a message about changes made on you configuration just check the box and close. after that is done you still need to fix the problem. This is how I repaired this problem. I booted laptop in safe mode f8 , then start, run ,regedit,highlight computer,click on edit click on find,the type av8 and right click on folders that have av8 or av9 and delete them. That should get you back online and then do a windows update. we did this before we ran combofix

I followed the admin’s suggestion and restarted in Safe Mode (I selected the Safe Mode option, not w/Networking or Command Prompt). After logging on to Windows7 Home Edition, I was greeted with a window that stated, “This copy of AV is not genuine” and the pretty logo shows Antivirus8 and then the MS Shield with the “X” and a “Get Genuine” button.
I chose ‘Continue’ instead and I get a key logging error and then a dump to memory (blue screen) and the system reboots.
I next tried ‘Get Genuine’ and among the bevy of windows, I got an ‘uninstall McAfee’ which is my Anti-Virus.
I cancelled and closed the AntiVirus8 window too.
Another blue screen and restart.
Trying LKGC. Nothing happening, same AV8 issue.
Booted to Windows7 Recovery/Repair and attempted to System Restore from a historical point.
Bingo. Running updates and patches. Will get a new Anti-Virus installed.

I had the same problem on a friend’s W7 computer. AV8 didn’t allow me to get into safe mode or get past the welcome screen.
I removed it by booting to the Win 7 setup disc and choose repair my computer. Then from the options I chose System Restore.
I then clicked the button to “show more restore points” and I saw where AV8 was installed. I then chose a Restore Point before this
and ran System Restore. When the restore was completed I rebooted to the C drive and then everything was fine. I ran a scan with
Super Antispyware and all the AV8 was gone. I did a registry search and couldn’t find a trace of AV8.
Great, no more problems.

It’s simple…
In AV8 main screen click on overview tab, go to settings, uncheck all boxes and click apply. Then go to your start button, AV8 and click uninstall & it uninstalls in seconds.
If your system reboots, it’s best to allow the program rather than cancel, it won’t do anything to your computer but run a scan just to be safe after

I’m not sure if I removed AV8. I ran my antivirus, and it deleted about 10 files, trojans and such, but none of them said AV8. I’m glad this malware did not block the antivirus like the last one. Maybe I should go to Safe Mode and search for it to make sure it’s gone.

I’m not sure I want to reboot in Safe Mode. I’ve never done that before. I’m doing a Targeted Scan in the Program folder, and I think the Full Scan had already taken care of it, although it wasn’t mentioned by name in the results. So I looked in the Program Folder through Windows Explorer, and there is no AV8 folder. There was an empty Your PC Protector folder from the last program that tried to take over this PC, so I deleted that. I’m hoping the computer’s safe now.

System restore worked for me. System restore did not specifically list a restore point where AV8 was installed, so I just arbitrarily picked a restore point from a week earlier. Everything is fixed.

I just got scammed by AV8. Sneaky b*****ds. Can’t do anything about it because I am not in UK at present. I got rid of it, after about an hour, by doing system restore. Checked pc with Kaspersky 2011, C Cleaner, Auslogics and Malwarebytes. Seems to be no trace of it in pc now but too late, they took my money.Will contact my bank and make sure this never happens again. I don’t know if there’s any way to get my money back, anyone know?

Av8 attempted to invade my computer last night using Microsoft logo, rejected it because spelling mistake in message made me suspicious have searched files and Av8.exe not found but just had another message using GData logo even though the anti-virus scan from this program and McAfee has not found any problems. Have I got Av8 lurking in some dark corner somewhere?

AV8 snd me a messeage everytime,then it starts scanning my pc
one year ago,i had another pc ,and AV8 did the same,and i coudn’t do anything,so I format my pc,and missed all the information in the pc.
how can i get rid out of it???

Just a note on AV8 virus.
If a window pops up that says to run AV8, it gives you the choice of clicking OK only.
Before you click anything thing, do this.
1 turn off your wireless adapter, or unplug network cable.
2 use CNTL-ALT-DEL to bring up task manager and shut AV8 down from there.
after that reconnect your network and launch your browser, DO NOT resume last session, go to Home page.
This will prevent AV8 from invading your system, however I would still recommend running a virus scan just to be sure, I recommend Malwarebytes my self.
NOTE: This method works well on most virus scams that require you to click the OK button.
